Client: Honjin 7 (Sun Restaurant Group)
Agency: Media Dimension Pte Ltd
Job: Advertorial & Ad Copy (Prestige Magazine)
Why I Wrote What I Wrote:
I'd previously done the restaurants write-up for Sun Restaurant Group so for this job, it was a matter of putting in more information to the original copy for Honjin 7 and editing it into an advertorial.
While writing, I kept the visual image of the restaurant in my mind, reclusive with a zen-like indulgence. It worked very well in helping me maintain the tone of the whole piece of writing. Again, I got to sample their cuisine and to sit down with the boss of the Group while he reiterated the additional information - mostly about the food, chefs and upcoming plans - that he wanted us to include in the advertorial. The advertorial was completed on 13 July.
The section on shabu-shabu in the advertorial was then adapted to ad copy for advertisements to be placed in later issues of the magazine, in which I drew out the selling point of the client bringing in fresh ingredients from Japan for their cuisine's authentic taste. Thus came the line The epitome of authentic Japanese cuisine. The ad copy was completed in early August; see below for layout.
It's the beginning of a new romance with gastronomical writing.
