- Namecard Copy
Why I Wrote What I Wrote:
Finally decided I should jazz up my namecard so I designed a simple layout of red and white on black for the front. Since the back was empty, I figured I may as well compose something original for that spot, providing the apt introduction to myself as a writer, so it says:

Client touched base after locating me from a freelancer website and initially requested for copywriting services for his new company's website. Upon meeting up, I discovered he had already done some writing, so what he needed in effect was editing and translation of his existing text.

That having been said, there was more polishing up done on the Corporate Profile as the corporate tone of voice had to be brought out from the original writing. The final tone was of a professional yet friendly and sincere persona.
Client was pretty happy with the texts and we continued with translating them into Chinese for his China market base. Waiting for client to update content for the last section, else everything is settled.

Job:
Proofreading:
- In-room Dining Menu
Why I Wrote What I Wrote:
This was a repeat job for Hilton, this time for their establishment in Bandung, Indonesia. Client simply needed a second pair of eyes on the completed menu, but apparently there was still quite a handful of misspellings and typos. Simple to do but a tad straining, as with most proofreading jobs and knowing myself, the perfectionist.

Copywriting/ Strategic Planning:
- Strategic Marketing Brief
Why I Wrote What I Wrote:
Had been in touch with the audiophile shop owner who provided great sales and after-sales service after my purchases. He was surprised to find out about my marketing and copywriting experience, after which we discussed how I could help him out in his marketing strategies. Started by putting down what he currently has and does, then decided on a few marketing strategies to be carried out in phases. Hopefully this is the beginning of another fruitful working relationship.

Translation (Transcreation):
- Airline Magazine Ad Copy (Chi to Eng)
Why I Wrote What I Wrote:
Agency approached me with an express request to translate the Chinese ad copy of Hilton Hangzhou Qiandao Lake Resort into English, for an advertisement in an airline magazine. Though it is not my first time working with both the languages, it is still my first paid job. Wasn't too difficult; read Hilton's tone of voice brief, mentally developed a brand persona of client, then kept that in mind while doing the translation, paying attention to the adjectives and descriptors.

Editing:
- System User Manual (initial draft)
Why I Wrote What I Wrote:
Got back in touch with an old friend who was the Associate Director of said organization. He actually needed a technical writer to edit and complete their system user manual but again, I was unable to take it up due to the requirement to be in-house for the period of time needed to complete it. Managed to clean up the existing draft for him though.

I didn't actually come by this job; rather, client sieved me out from the pool of freelancers on one of the portals I am in.
Client needed series of ten 500-word articles each to be churned out periodically, featuring a spectrum of interest areas from career matters to personal health. Upon receipt of titles, I would research on content before writing. It felt rather like technical writing at times but there is a sense of accomplishment after each series (plus, I increased my general knowledge content from all that research I did). Regrettably, I had to decline this on-going job after two series due to other commitments and time constraint.

Job: Website Proofreading
Why I Wrote What I Wrote:
A job from a company of the Harilela Hotels group managing the airport hospitality services at Singapore Changi Airport; they needed someone to run through the text created for their new website, by someone else. The only tedious part of the job has to be indicating the grammatical and structural errors on printscreens.

Job: Copywriting of
- Seminar Partnership Proposal Brief
- Sponsorship Kit
Why I Wrote What I Wrote:
My agency boss have been in discussion with the same guy I'm ghostwriting for and both are keen to run a series of seminars in March 2011. We explored ideas on how we can bring in sponsors so of course the things we'll need to touch base and introduce ourselves would be a proposal brief. Then if they are interested to take it further, a sponsorship kit. Rather a lot of information to bring to black and white but still an interesting job to do.
